S-Works Epic Burry Stander Specialized Edition

Specialized announced a few things this week including a 650B Stumpjumper FSR and a new Specialized Edition bike, the S-Works Epic Burry Stander Specialized Edition. The big bike sites such as Bike Radar have info on the 650B Stumpjumper FSR’s if you’re interested.

The S-Works Epic Burry Stander Specialized Edition is something very special, it is a bike dedicated to the Wold Cup and Olympic mountain bike competitor who was tragically killed during a training ride on January 3, 2013.

Today On A Bike

2014-03-26 18.00.08Almost all of my rides of late have been with my teammates on the road. The new Tarmac is pretty amazing, more thoughts on it shortly. The spring’s bringing warmer weather and more colorful views.

New Bike Day! 2014 S-Works Tarmac SL4 Dura-Ace Di2

T86A0319After spending the majority of my miles pedaling last year on my road bike, I found myself wanting a new road bike for this year. My wife gave me the go ahead (…stupidly lucky man) so the new bike was ordered. I’ll go into more details on the bike after spending some more time on it, for now I’ll just say it’s ridiculously light (14.88 lbs) and shifts amazing. It’s going to be a great summer!

Blue Lug Awesomeness

I’ve been doing some research on commuters lately and my searching of unique steel bikes has turned me onto Blue Lug, a Japanese bicycle shop. Among the things they sell are some very cool custom Surly Bicycles. Their bikes and photography are great. I pulled a few examples of their work to show here. All images are from Blue Lug’s Flickr.

2014 Rays MTB Indoor Park Trip

T86A0265My wife and I joined a group of friends at Rays MTB Indoor Park in Milwaukee WI this weekend. This is the second year we have gone up for the Women’s weekend where Rays puts together a great event where pros from around the country come and instruct and help women on different techniques and obstacles to further develop skills, all with no pressure. All of this is pretty cool, especially considering the cheap event costs. They open the park up to guys around 4:00pm on Friday to share in the fun after the women’s skill clinic.

The park is divided into a lot of different sections including a beginner, intermediate, and expert skinny area, different skill leveled jump lines, a skate park, a cross-country loop and a few pump tracks. The intermediate skinny section is a lot of fun to practice those types of skills on.
IMG_2510The pump track is a lot of fun and a lot of work, equal parts smiles and heavy breathing!
IMG_2511 T86A0024 T86A0030 T86A0144The skate park section was a fun area to watch everything from back flips to face plants and everything in between.
IMG_2512The expert jump line was also another fun area to watch people ride.
IMG_2513 T86A0055I had a lot of fun and can’t wait until next years trip!
